Ready to see Pinball FX VR in action? Check out my gameplay video below, where I take on the Indiana Jones: The Pinball Adventure table on the Meta Quest 3. I’ll walk you through the immersive arcade setup, share some tips for mastering the table, and show off the thrilling multiball moments that had me on the edge of my seat!
A New Era of Pinball in VR
Pinball FX VR, developed by the digital pinball pioneers at Zen Studios, launched on April 3, 2025, for Meta Quest headsets, including the Meta Quest 3, Quest 2, Quest 3S, and Quest Pro. This game takes the classic Pinball FX series to a whole new level by immersing you in a virtual arcade environment that feels straight out of the ‘80s. The moment I put on my Meta Quest 3 headset, I was transported into a vibrant arcade space, complete with retro decorations, interactive gadgets, and, of course, a lineup of stunning pinball machines.
What makes Pinball FX VR stand out is how it blends the look and feel of a real pinball machine with the magic of virtual reality. The game features advanced physics, detailed 3D graphics, and original table designs that you simply can’t experience on a physical machine. Plus, with social features like global leaderboards and a campaign mode, there’s always a new challenge to tackle. But the real star of my latest session was the Indiana Jones: The Pinball Adventure table, a fan-favorite Williams classic from 1993 that’s been brought to life in VR for the first time.
Stepping into Indiana Jones’ World
In my embedded YouTube video below, you’ll see me diving into the Indiana Jones add-on table, which is available as a DLC for Pinball FX VR. As soon as I selected the table, I was blown away by the level of detail. The machine looks so real that I instinctively tried to lean on it—only to remember I was in VR! The cabinet is beautifully rendered, with the iconic Indiana Jones artwork on the sides and a glowing backglass that sets the adventurous tone.
Playing this table in VR is a game-changer. Unlike playing on a console or PC, where your viewpoint is locked, the Meta Quest 3 lets you move around the table naturally. I could lean in to read the instruction card, glance up at the DMD (dot matrix display) to check my score, and shift my focus to different parts of the playfield as the ball zipped around. The physics are spot-on, replicating the quirks of the original 1993 Williams machine—like the way the ball sometimes takes unexpected bounces that had me on edge, just like I’d be in a real arcade.
The Indiana Jones table is packed with nostalgic moments from the movies. You’ll relive iconic scenes as you escape Castle Brunwald, feed pinballs to the mysterious Idol, and brave the Path of Adventure. One of my favorite features is the tiltable mini-playfield that activates during multiball mode—things get chaotic fast, and it’s an absolute blast! The VR environment even adds enhanced effects, like dramatic lighting and animations that make every shot feel cinematic. If you prefer a more authentic experience, you can disable these effects, but I loved the extra flair they brought to the game.
Why Pinball FX VR on Meta Quest 3 is a Must-Play
The Meta Quest 3 really elevates the Pinball FX VR experience. The controllers map the flippers to the triggers and the tilt to the left joystick, making the gameplay feel intuitive and responsive. I did notice a slight learning curve transitioning from navigating the virtual arcade to playing, but once I got into the groove, it felt like I was standing in front of a real machine. The mixed reality mode is another cool feature—you can place the pinball table in your actual living room, blurring the line between the physical and virtual worlds. I didn’t use this mode in my video, but I’m excited to try it out in future sessions.
One thing to note: Pinball FX VR doesn’t currently support multiplayer, which would be an amazing addition for competing with friends in the virtual arcade. But with the variety of tables available at launch—like Sky Pirates: Treasures of the Clouds, Pinball Noir, and Curse of the Mummy—plus add-ons like The Addams Family, Star Trek: The Next Generation, and more, there’s plenty to keep you entertained. Zen Studios has also promised more tables in the future, so the library will only grow.
