Logitech Unveils XR Stylus for Meta Quest

Logitech has introduced the MX Ink, an XR stylus designed specifically for Meta Quest’s ecosystem, marking the first third-party motion peripheral for the platform. This stylus is tailored for creatives working in both 2D and 3D media.

Compatible with Quest 2, Quest 3, and future headsets, but not Quest Pro, the MX Ink offers a natural pen-like feel with a pressure-sensitive tip. This feature enables users to create, annotate, and navigate within XR environments seamlessly. The stylus can pair with Quest headsets and be used interchangeably with Quest controllers, making it the first instance where Meta’s headset can support more than two paired controllers simultaneously.

When it ships in September, the MX Ink will include a dedicated stylus customization page in the updated Meta Settings UI. Users will be able to adjust pressure curves for the nib and primary buttons, initial activation force, and double-tap timing.

The MX Ink boasts haptic feedback and is spatially tracked in 6DOF, offering low latency and high accuracy comparable to Quest controllers. A charging base will be available to keep the stylus ready for use, featuring a dedicated USB-C port for on-the-go convenience. The package includes a pair of replaceable nibs, offering a choice between a very fine and a larger nib.

Additionally, Logitech is releasing the MX Mat, a low-friction 2D surface designed specifically for the MX Ink’s tip. Compatible Quest apps include Adobe Substance Modeler, Gravity Sketch, PaintingVR, Arkio, Engage, OpenBrush, GestureVR, ShapesXR, and Elucis by RealizeMedical.

The Logitech MX Ink will launch in late September, priced at $130 for the stylus alone, and $170 for the MX Ink + Inkwell base combo. Pre-orders are now available.
