One of the most common questions I get about iB Cricket is how to change the default names so you can play with your favourite players instead of “Bat 1”, “Bat 2”, etc.
The option is not labelled “Edit Players”. It is called Name Your Bats (sometimes shown as Edit Bats or Configure Your Bats).
Here is exactly how to do it.
Step-by-Step
- Open iB Cricket on your Meta Quest 3 or Quest 3S.
- Go into Settings.
- Select Bat Settings.
- Choose Name Your Bats (or Edit Bats / Configure Your Bats).
- You will see a list numbered Bat 1 through Bat 11.
- Click the small pencil icon next to any name.
- The virtual keyboard will appear. Type the player name you want.
- Confirm and move to the next bat.
- Repeat until your full lineup is set.
The names save automatically and will appear on the scoreboard and in-game.
Tips
- You can mix batters, wicketkeepers, and bowlers in any order.
- The virtual keyboard can be a little sensitive — type slowly and check spelling.
- You can also change bat skins from the same menu if you have purchased any.
- Your custom names stay saved between sessions.
Example Lineup
Many players create an all-time favourite XI. Mine has included names such as Alastair Cook, Joe Root, Ben Stokes, and Ian Botham over the years. You can change it whenever you want a fresh lineup.
Once the names are set, start a match and you will see them on the scoreboard instead of the default bat numbers.
For the full setup process before you start customising, see the Ultimate iB Cricket Setup Guide.
If you use a dedicated VR cricket bat, the setup is covered here: Best VR Cricket Bat for Meta Quest.
