I recently tried RealBat Cricket VR on the Meta Quest. It is a newer VR cricket game that focuses on physics-based batting. After playing it for a while, here are my honest thoughts.

First Impressions
The game works with the VR cricket bat from vrmerchstore.com, which is a plus. Tracking felt fine during my session, similar to my experience in iB Cricket.
The batting physics are one of the stronger parts. The way the ball comes off the bat feels reasonably good, and I did not find major issues with shot direction or timing. Bouncers also felt acceptable. After around 20 minutes, I found myself reasonably immersed in the game.
The Problems
There are some noticeable issues that stand out quickly:
- Bat-on-ball sound – The sound effect when the bat hits the ball is poor. It does not sound like a real bat and ball. It is more of a thin “tick” than a proper impact.
- The pitch – The wicket does not look like a cricket pitch. It looks unfinished and stands out in a bad way.
- Fielding positions – Slip fielders and the wicketkeeper are positioned far too close, even against fast bowling at 140–150 km/h. This does not feel right for cricket.
- Bat size – The in-game bat feels small and thin.
- Menus – The menu system sits in a position where it is easy to accidentally hit buttons with the bat while moving.
The fielders themselves look decent, and some of the crowd and fielder audio is fine. The instant replays are one of the better features. You can look up and see the replay without pressing buttons, and the different camera angles (including keeper cam) are well done.
Is It Worth Buying?
RealBat Cricket VR is not a bad game. I enjoyed parts of it, and the core batting feel is better than I expected at first. After 20 minutes I was immersed enough that I would not feel disappointed if I had paid for it.
That said, it is still a long way behind iB Cricket. The pitch, bat-on-ball sound, and fielding positions are significant problems that should have been caught earlier. These are not small issues in a cricket game.

Final Verdict
RealBat Cricket VR is probably the second-best VR cricket game available right now. The batting physics and immersion are solid enough that it is worth trying, especially if there is still a free trial. However, the poor pitch, weak bat-on-ball sound, and unrealistic fielding positions hold it back. It is enjoyable, but it is not close to iB Cricket.
