Gems are the in-game currency in iB Cricket. You mainly need them to unlock extra stadiums and some bat cosmetics. Stadiums can get expensive, so it helps to know the reliable free ways to earn them instead of buying packs.
Here are the methods that actually work if you play regularly on the Meta Quest 3 or Quest 3S.
Score Fifties and Hundreds (Best Method)
The most consistent way to earn gems is by reaching milestones in a match:
- A 50 earns gems
- A 100 earns more
- Higher milestones (150+) also pay out
Important: these rewards only trigger properly when you are playing with 0% Bat Shield and on harder bowling difficulties (Hard or Insane / Ultra Insane). If you use any Bat Shield percentage, you usually won’t get the gem rewards for the milestones.
I always play with 0% Bat Shield for this reason. It makes the game harder, but it’s the main way to build up gems for new stadiums. You can see more about the stadiums in the Best iB Cricket Stadiums Ranked guide.
Play Tournaments and Leagues
Tournament seasons and league matches regularly award gems for participation and placement. Even if you don’t finish high on the leaderboard, you still pick up some gems for playing.
Check the current season details in-game. New seasons start periodically and are one of the better bulk sources of gems over time.
Complete Challenges
Skill challenges and certain match objectives also pay out gems. Some challenges cost a small number of gems to enter or replay, so only do the ones you are confident you can complete.
Daily Play and Missions
Logging in and playing regularly helps. There are often daily or recurring objectives that reward small amounts of gems. Consistency adds up faster than most people expect.
What Not to Rely On
You can buy gems with real money in the in-game shop, but most players prefer to earn them through play. There is no need to spend if you focus on the milestone method above.
Tips to Earn Faster
- Stick to 0% Bat Shield when you want gem rewards.
- Play on Hard or higher difficulties.
- Aim for at least one fifty per session.
- Use a proper VR cricket bat for better control and timing — the one I recommend is covered in the Best VR Cricket Bat for Meta Quest post.
- Make sure your tracking is solid so you can actually time the shots. See How to Fix Tracking Issues in iB Cricket on Quest 3 if you’re having problems.
- Set up your favourite player names using the steps in How to Edit Player Names in iB Cricket.
Once you start unlocking stadiums, the Ultimate iB Cricket Setup Guide is still the best place to go if you need to get your Quest and space set up properly.
